Review of Here and Now from Worship Leader Magazine:

“No, Here & Now is not music from the (sadly recently deceased) blues legend, rather this Eddie Kirkland is the music director at North Point Community Church in the Atlanta area. North Point is well known for it’s top-notch worship music (Kristian Stanfill and Todd Fields), as well as its connection to the Passion Conference movement and recordings. Kirkland may not have the name recognition of some of his workmates, but the musical goods are here, as well as some unique stylistic elements that give Here & Now a feel all its own.
Diversity reigns on this six song EP. Within an overall palate of modern rock, Kirkland covers a lot of ground—there’s unusual instrumentation (including chimes and hummer dulcimer), aggressive riffing, acoustic intimacy, electronic sequencing, the whole deal. One of the defining characteristics of Here & Now is its unique rhythmic sensibility–Kirkland is able to take what would otherwise be a standard alternative-rock feel and tweak it to give it a character entirely its own. Here’s hoping for a full-length project in the future.”
WL TAKEAWAY: An intriguing glimpse into the creative psyche that fuels the music director to one of America’s most influential churches.
PLAYLIST: “Lights of Manhattan (Let It Rise),” “What a Savior, “ “Anchor”
